Us
Wildside
Photography is a spin-off from what we love doing - travelling and taking
photographs. We share passions for photography and nature, and aim to help
increase awareness of the immense and fragile beauty of the world we live in.
We always try to tread lightly and choose to travel fairly, using local
operators and putting something back into the areas we visit. If beautiful
places can pay for themselves through responsible tourism, then half the battle
in conserving them for the future is already won. If you would also like to be
involved in the conservation of the areas these photos came from, then follow
the links on the gallery pages for more information. Although originally from
Great Britain, we are now based in South Africa.
Our Kit
Our photographs have been taken using Canon camera bodies - EOS
500N, EOS 650, EOS 3 and an EOS 20D. Over the past ten years we have built up a
family of Canon and Sigma lenses which are compatible with the bodies, ranging
from a ×0.42 semi - fish eye attachment to a 170 - 500 mm. We sometimes
use a Uniloc tripod with a ball-joint head, but aren't usually in a situation
where you can use a tripod that easily and so do now make use of a Canon 100 -
400 mm Image Stabilised lens. All the earlier photographs were taken on print
film (mainly Fuji) and scanned in using a flatbed scanner, but we now use a
combination of digital and celluloid. We believe in capturing real images from
the real world, and so unless otherwise stated, other than occasional cropping,
none of the images has been digitally manipulated. The satisfaction is in
seeing and capturing the beauty of the subject at the time.
We hope
you like our pictures. If you have any questions or comments, then please
email usi at info@wildside-photography.co.uk.
